James Monroe Smith (academic administrator)

James Monroe Smith (October 9, 1888 – June 6, 1949) was an American educator and academic administrator in Louisiana.[1]

In 1931, he was appointed president of Louisiana State University by Huey Long.

Smith was referred to as "Jimmy the Stooge" by students of the university.[2]
