Omkring år 1739 lät Tessin i en serie målningar föreviga ett teatralt upptåg om aftonen framför Tessinska palatset i Stockholm, där syskonbarnen Lotta, Brita, Carl, Gabriel Erik och Fredrik Sparre var utklädda till apor. I skilda scenerier visas hur dessa markattor ömsom bär in julklappar, ömsom själva mottar dylika. På denna målning lyckas de med utsträckta hattar och förkläden fånga upp paket som kastas "deruti från Balconen ofwanpå porten."
