Fancade is a 2020 mobile videogame/game engine for creating games inside the platform using visual scripting by Martin Magni. Fancade had been originally developed by Magni but has later been joined by other developers and now headquartered in Linköping. Fancade is available on iOS, Android and on web browsers.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Fancade is an app that contains multiple player-made minigames inside of it. Players can create and share their own games using the in-app editor and a visual scripting language known as Fanscript. Player-made games extend over a wide variety, with some being very basic and others being rather complex.[1]

Community[edit]

Fancade has an active online community on various platforms such as Reddit, Discord, and a few others. Said community engages in community-run events, such as Game Jams revolving around a theme. Discussion regarding games and the quality of recent minigames on the app also occurs there, along showcasing players' creations. Players can follow other players in the community, which is how many have gotten popular. Lists of how many followers an individual player has have been created recently.

Reception[edit]

Fancade won the Google Play Best of 2020 award in the category Best Innovative[2]

Fancade was chosen as a Game Of The Day on App Store[3]

Games Finder gave it an 8.5 out of 10 rating, praising its "free to play mixture of puzzles and mini games" and its "fantastic array of tools to create, share and find creations from the community".[4]

TouchArcade called it "an ambitious project" that "deserves heaps of praise".[5] Edamame Reviews stated that Fancade is "the only mobile game you'll need in 2020" and that "the quality of each of the mini-games featured in Fancade is at a level of quality high enough to be packaged and sold as standalone titles of their own".[6]
