Christopher Joshua Beckwith (born May 25, 1987) known professionally as YOUNG JIMMY is an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, rapper, and record label executive. He released his debut studio album Rockett 88 in 2021.[citation needed]

Early life[edit]

By the age of 19, he was gigging regularly as a session musician in NYC for various rock music and hip-hop groups[2]. He performed numerous shows as a backup guitarist for Hip Hop legend & pioneer Melle Mel who is also a credited songwriter on YOUNG JIMMY's song titled "The Movies" off his EP Yellow Yellow. He was Dubbed the moniker "YOUNG JIMMY" by fellow musicians, rappers and fans who saw him perform. YOUNG referred to his youth at the time, JIMMY is a reference to his likeness to guitarists Jimi Hendrix & Jimmy Page who both influenced him as a guitar player. Christopher was reluctant to use the name at first but after a few years of hearing it repeatedly and reading about how Fats Domino & Elvis Costello got their monikers, he decided to embrace the nickname and use it as a stage name for his future solo projects[3]. He spells YOUNG JIMMY in all caps to assert the first and last letters Y which symbolize Sign of the Horns. In Buddhism they help to expel demons, remove negative energy, ward off evil, and in ASL it translates to "love".

Career[edit]

YOUNG JIMMY released his first solo project an EP titled Yellow Yellow in 2018. Re-releasing it under his new indie label HOOD ROCK RECORDS (RIAA)[4] in 2020. On May 7th, 2021 he released his debut studio album Rockett 88 (16 tracks). On May 12th, 2023 he released Rockett 88 (Deluxe) 19 tracks featuring 2x Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Kendra Foster on the song "No Racist". The album was recorded & mixed at Quad Studios in NYC and mastered by 17x Grammy Award-nominated engineer Chris Gehringer. In January 2023 he released the single "Pull Up to the Party"[5], in February 2023 he released a single "Sweet Maria" [6], and in March 2023 he released a cover song single by grunge rock band Nirvana "Come as You Are".[7]
