- Comment: Seems like this got a burst of news coverage that quickly dissipated. I don't think this subject is notable sadly - there is not much to write about. Ca talk to me! 11:05, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
The World's Largest Hand-Drawn Maze[1] measures 1,126.36 sq ft (104.642 m2). It was created by American artist Michelle Boggess (Nunley)[2] and was officially certified by Guinness World Records on September 19, 2020. The maze was created to help raise money for art programs in Detroit, MI during the pandemic shutdown. It took the artist 3.5 months to create, contained a total of 350 names and doodles inside the maze path, was created with over 200 sharpies, 20 highlighters, and wrapped around the circumference of a full size football field when unrolled. The maze was created inside the window space of the Posterity Gallery[3] located in downtown Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
Guidelines[edit]
Guinness guidelines stated that the maze path could not exceed 0.39 in (1 cm) wide, that it needed to be documented by two independent witnesses, proven solvable, and videotaped throughout the entirety of the record attempt. It also needed to be created in a public space where it could be observed by people passing by.[4] The artist stated in an interview that following the strict guidelines were difficult.[5]
