The SEED concept provides a conceptual framework for optimizing in-circuit protection of Electrostatic-sensitive components and Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) elements to achieve an efficient tradeoff between cost, performance and robustness in a system. The sensitivity and robustness of a device in a system depends on a complex interaction with protection devices as well as other functional elements of the system. Therefore, it is not possible for a component-level specification to predict a universal system-level robustness performance for any arbitrary combination of components.
SEED outlines a methodology for predicting and optimizing system-level robustness for various combinations of susceptible and protective components.
