Stefani Samac (born December 13, 1995), known mononymously as Califani, is an Australian rapper, writer, and television personality. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, she began rapping at the age of 8. At 21, she moved to Los Angeles and emerged onto the music scene in 2020 and has since garnered attention for her introspective lyrics, dynamic flow, and infectious beats.

Early life[edit]

Califani was born and raised in the culturally diverse neighborhoods of Melbourne, Australia, where she was exposed to a variety of musical influences from a young age. Growing up, she developed a passion for hip-hop and drama and began writing and performing her own monologues, scripts and novels. Califani attended Screen Actors Australia for 10 years where she developed her acting skills and began performing on live stages and worked with and was mentored by leading Australian actors Sarah Hallam and Samuel Johnson. Califani was later awarded "Best Scene of the Year" in 2010 for her dramatic performance on a monologue that she modified and performed solo.

Career[edit]

In the early stages of Califani's career, Califani embarked on a journey across the world from her hometown Melbourne, Australia, to Orlando, Florida, where she attended a talent event at Walt Disney World® Resort that spanned over 2 weeks. At the event, Califani was alongside stars Matthew Underwood and Tiffany Espensen where she was trained and had to attend classes, which eventually led her to perform solo scenes in front of large audiences.

In 2017, Califani was handpicked to lead the cast of the highly anticipated show "Mob Wives," produced by none other than Harvey Weinstein. Rubbing shoulders with notorious mob wives, Califani's presence brang unique energy to the screen. Her strong persona set her apart from the rest, commanding attention and respect in every scene. As the cameras rolled, viewers couldn't help but be drawn to Califani's magnetic presence amidst the drama and intrigue of the underworld. This lead her to attend the Fitzy and Wippa show on Nova 96.9 alongside wife of infamous underworld figure Carl Williams, Roberta Williams.

In her late teens, Califani started to gain recognition within the underground rap scene for her raw talent and authentic storytelling. She honed her skills through countless freestyle sessions and collaborations with other artists, gradually building a loyal fanbase.

Califani's breakthrough came with the release of her debut single, "Straight Like Dat," in 2020. The project showcased her versatility as an artist, blending gritty street narratives with melodic hooks and infectious rhythms. Tracks like "Top Off'" and "Retro" quickly became favorites and helped solidify Califani's position as a rising star in West Coast hip-hop.

Personal life[edit]

Outside of her entertainment career, Califani is known for her philanthropic efforts and community involvement. She is actively involved in various charitable organizations, and is known for her grounded nature and commitment to authenticity. Outside of her career, she is passionate about philanthropy, frequently lending her support to charitable causes close to her heart. In early 2024, Califani, with her unwavering determination and generous donations, orchestrated the rescue of 100 stray dogs in Macedonia, providing them with much-needed medical attention, nourishment, and a safe haven. Through her selfless actions, she not only changed the lives of countless furry companions but also ignited a ripple of kindness that continues to make a lasting impact in Macedonia and beyond.
