Headquarters building[edit]

201 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN[edit]

The $58 million dollar Shelby County Criminal Justice Center opened in 1981, replacing the old county jail. The 10-story facility at Poplar and Third in downtown Memphis also houses the Memphis Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Department, the Attorney General's office, City Court, Criminal Court and General Sessions Court.[1]

Special Units[edit]

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)[edit]

The SCSO implements the Memphis Model for crisis intervention, officers receive specialized training on recognizing, identifying, and deescalating individuals who are suffering from a mental crisis.[2]
