The sciences in the Central Maghreb result from all scholarly productions and scientific exchanges of medieval Algeria (8th to 16th century) and later from the Algiers Regency (Al Jaza'ir) (after the 16th century century). Indeed, benefiting from contributions from Al Andalus, the Muslim East, Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa, this period in the history of Algeria is marked by intense scientific and cultural exchanges. Two cities stand out in particular: Béjaïa and Tlemcen; they played the role of true metropolises and hubs in the field of sciences.
