Roger J. Muller, Jr. is the majority owner of Muller Insurance in Hoboken, NJ[1] and an International Lionfish Hunter and Professional Scuba Instructor who owns LionfishDivers.com.[2]

Early Life & Education[edit]

Muller attended the Ramapo College of New Jersey and graduated in 1979[3] with a degree in Enviornmental Studies.[4]

He was born from his mother Hetty Muller and his father R. John Muller. He was two children, Taylor and Kelsey Muller, and is married to his wife Andrea.[5]

Career[edit]

Muller Insurance[edit]

Muller is the majority owner and an agent at Muller Insurance located on Washington Street in Hoboken, NJ.[1] It was founded in 1906 by his grandfather John Muller, making it the oldest business in Hoboken.[6] Muller is licensed in over 24 states and represents more than 25 insurance companies.[7]

Muller Insurance provides personal and business insurance, including home, car, renters, condo, and umbrella.[8]

In addition to insurance, Muller also has a real estate license with Liberty Realty.[9]

Philanthropy and Advocacy[edit]

Lionfish Hunting & Removal[edit]

Muller is an International Lionfish Hunter and Professional Scuba Instructor.[2] He started diving in March of 1998, and now has over 86 PADI certifications for diving.[10] He has 132 major diving certificates and over 2,500 dives in Aruba, Bonaire, Bora Bora, Cuba, Curacao, Florida, Grand Cayman Islands, Hawaii, Italy, Jamaica, Panama, and St. Croix.[11]

He runs the website LionfishDivers.com with the goal of educating people about lionfish, from how to hunt them to how to eat them.[12] He has taken and is an instructor for numerous lionfish courses including SDI Hunter/Collector Diver, DAN & NAUI Hazardous Marine Life, PADI Lionfish Awareness and Elimination, Lionfish Hunting Specialty, and Invasive Lionfish Tacker Specialty.[12]

Hobbies & Activities[edit]

Hockey[edit]

Muller is the captain of the Hoboken Rockets ice hockey team.[11] He plays forward and shoots left-handed.[13]

He is also a long-time season ticket holder with the New Jersey Devils.[14]

Fishing[edit]

Muller tags fish for the American Littoral Society and the Dolphinfish Research Program and is a lifetime member of the Hudson River Fishing Association (HRFA).[12]

In 2022, Muller was on the Hudson River Fishermen's Association Saltwater Species Leader Board for his 21 Lbs. 8. oz. Striped Bass which he caught from his boat and kept.[15]
