Mkhitar Esaevich Dzhangiryan (Armenian: Մխիթար Եսայիվիչ Ջհանգիրյան) (Russian: Мхитар Есаевич Джангирян) Mkhitar Esaevich Dzhangiryan, born on November 6, 1926, in the village of Harzhis, Goris raion, within the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, situated in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) In the year 1943, at the age of 17, amid the declaration of war by the Nazi Germany against the USSR, Mkhitar, driven by his socialist convictions and a profound willingness to sacrifice for the Soviet Union, intentionally misrepresented his age and enlisted in the Red Army.
Mkhitar's military journey led him to the front lines, culminating in his participation in the pivotal Battle of Berlin following the declaration of war. Unfortunately, post the battle, Mkhitar was reported as missing in action and subsequently declared deceased, causing profound distress to his family. However, a twist of fate occurred in 1949 when Mkhitar, presumed dead, made a triumphant return to his family.
A distinguished and decorated soldier, Mkhitar Esaevich Dzhangiryan received recognition through the conferment of ten medals for his exceptional service in the Red Army. Despite the challenges of war, Mkhitar lived a long and healthy life until his peaceful passing on January 6, 1995, succumbing to the natural progression of old age. Notably, he held the rank of captain in the Soviet Army, leaving behind a legacy of valor and dedication to the ideals of the USSR. He served in the GSOFG during his presumed time of "death". [1][2]
