Mariano Pietrini, born on March 12, 1945, in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Messina, was a diverse artist whose career spanned over forty years, encompassing more than two thousand works across various mediums. He expressed himself as a painter, sculptor, poet, and writer, believing strongly in the boundless potential of individuals when they connected with what he referred to as "the Light."
His artistic theories revolved around concepts such as order within chaos, the Law of Contrasts, the Theory of Beauty, and the idea that "there is no error in the presence of love." These principles permeated both his life and his artistic creations.
Pietrini's creative process was complex and often unpredictable, leading him to explore diverse forms of artistic expression, ranging from three-dimensional painting to sculptures, papier-mâché, and even the restoration of significant artworks. Notable among his creations was the Jalari Park Museum, a project blending art, history, and ethnography situated in the hills of Barcelona. This endeavor was labeled by Pietrini as "The talking mountain" or "The Pyramid of Light of the Third Millennium," a testament to his visionary ambitions.
He exhibited his works internationally in cities like Rome, Turin, Granada, Buenos Aires, and several locations in the United States, showcasing his admiration for Sicily's volcanic strength, fiery sunsets, and its vibrant creative spirit. Pietrini saw the speaking stones of Jalari as symbolic representations of human creativity when aligned with the concept of Light.
In 2001, the Telethon Foundation recognized his artistry by selecting one of his sculptures to honor the municipality of Fidenza as Italy's most supportive city. Alongside his visual art, Pietrini was also a prolific writer, with nearly thirty publications penned between 1979 and 2015, offering a detailed account of his artistic journey.
