Draft:List of the largest commercial airports

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of the largest commercial airports includes all airports worldwide that handled more than 25 million air travelers in 2016. The Airports Council International (ACI), an umbrella organization comprising more than 1650 airports in 177 countries worldwide, divides airports into four groups according to the number of passengers handled annually.

Group 1 with the largest airports starts at 25 million passengers. In 2016, 61 airports exceeded this threshold, 22 of which are located in North America, 22 in Asia, 14 in Europe, two in Australia and one in South America. With 104 million passengers, Atlanta Airport was the largest airport in the world in 2016.

The key data, IATA code, ICAO code, altitude above sea level, traffic figures for 2016, number of runways and surface area are listed for each of the 61 airports.
