Laura Pollak is an American visual artist, pastelist, educator, and art blogger[1] born in Detroit, Michigan.

Education[edit]

Pollak is a graduate of the Master of Arts program at Michigan State University.[2]

Artwork[edit]

Pollak's art encompasses a wide range from landscape to abstraction.[3] Her painting oeuvre has been praised by jurors for its texture, color harmony and drama.[4] An online collection with some of her art was recently published on American Art Collector.[5]

Awards[edit]

She received the Exceptional Merit Award in the Southeastern Pastel Society Show 2023.[4] Awards she received as a pastelist also include the 2019 Award for Abstract, BoldBrush Painting Competition for her piece "Emeralds",[6] the 2020 Master Circle's Award by the International Association of Pastel Societies,[7] and the 2023 The Pastel Journal's 21st Annual Pastel 100 Winners Abstract & Non-Objective Honorable Mention,[8]

Memberships[edit]

Among distinctions from other learned societies, she has been a president of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, a member of the Master Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies, a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America, a Signature Member of the Southeastern Pastel Society, a Distinguished Member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and a Signature Member of the Piedmont Pastel Society.[9][10][11][12]
