Jari Juhani Virman (born June 19, 1976 in Lieksa) is a Finnish actor. He works as a freelancer in movies, TV series and theater. Virman studied acting between 2000-2005 at the Theater Academy of Finland and graduated in 2005 as Master of Arts (Theater and Drama).

Career[edit]

Virman has played in movies such as The River (Joki, 2001), Concrete Night (Betoniyö, 2013), The Liberation of Skopje (2016), Euthanizer (Armomurhaaja, 2017) and Death is a Problem for the Living (Peluri – kuolema on elävien ongelma, 2023).

Virman has played in TV-series Ihan sama (2014), Mustat lesket (2014-2016), Punainen kolmio (2016), Aallonmurtaja (2017-2023), Presidentti (2017), Ivalo (The Artic Circle, 2018), Pientä laittoa (2019), Kaikki Synnit (2020) and Munkkivuori (2023).

Virman has played in such theaters as Ryhmäteatteri, KOM Theater, Teatteri Avoimet Ovet, Teatteri Jurkka, Finnish National Theater and Helsinki City Theater. He has also played Antero Rokka in the Unknown Soldier radio play (2014).[1]

Awards[edit]

Virman was awarded the Best Supporting Actor Award at Jussi Awards in 2024, for movie Death is a Problem for the Living.[2] Same year, he was awarded the Tiantan Award in category Best Supporting Actor at Peking International Film Festival, also for the movie Death is a Problem for the Living.[3] He was also awarded at the European Cinema Festival for the movie Concrete Night[4], for which he was nominated for a Jussi award in 2014.[5]
