Jack Anthony Madanamoothoo

Jack Anthony Madanamoothoo (born January 13, 1999) is a Mauritian weightlifter known for his participation in international competitions, including the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and various editions of the African Weightlifting Championships.

International Achievements

2022 African Championships (Oct 26):4th place in the 102 kg category with a total of 297 kg (102 kg snatch, 132 kg clean and jerk, 165 kg total).

2021 2021 IWF World Championships (Dec 07):15th place in the 102 kg category with a total of 306 kg (135 kg snatch, 171 kg clean and jerk).

2019 12th All African Games (Aug 24):9th place in the 81 kg category with a total of 270 kg (125 kg snatch, 145 kg clean and jerk).

Anti-Doping Violations

Madanamoothoo's career has been marred by two anti-doping violations. The first occurred in 2014 when he was only 14 years old, resulting in disqualification from the African Youth (YOG Qualification) Championships in the 69 kg category.

The second violation took place in 2022, where he faced sanctions for evading an anti-doping test. This incident has raised concerns about the integrity of the sport and has had implications on Madanamoothoo's reputation within the weightlifting community.
