Draft:In Defence of Marxism (magazine)

  • Comment: This should probably be a subsection of International Marxist Tendency instead of a standalone article. Unfortunately I see that article is itself the subject of a deletion discussion right now. If it's kept, I recommend merging this there. If it's deleted, I don't think there's much hope for this one, alas. For the is also notable for regularly carrying articles on sentence, try to keep this to independent sources only - that is, if no one (other than you / the magazine itself) have said that the mag is notable for this coverage, don't include it. In Defence of Marxism is the quarterly theoretical magazine of the International Marxist Tendency. The publication appears in multiple languages, including (but not limited to) in Spanish as América Socialista,[3] in German, as In Verteidigung des Marxismus,[4] and Swedish as Till marxismens försvar.[5] Since its relaunch in the current form in 2021, the magazine has been distributed in Britain, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Honduras, Argentina, Colombia, Pakistan and India, among others.[6]

Contents[edit]

The publication aims to "arm the advanced workers and youth with the revolutionary philosophy and method of Marxism."[7] The editorial line strictly follows the principles of the IMT and therefore adheres to Orthodox Trotskyism, which it interprets as the genuine inheritor of Marxism and Leninism.[citation needed]

Articles cover a broad set of topics written exclusively from the standpoint of dialectical materialism, historical materialism, and Marxist economics. These include (among others) analyses of The Spanish conquest of Americas, The Enlightenment and works of Baruch Spinoza, Malthusianism, and Bavarian Soviet Republic.[8][9][10][11]

The magazine is also notable for regularly carrying articles on culture, with recent issues containing analyses of works by Miguel Cervantes, James Joyce, Honoré de Balzac, and Ivan Goncharov.[12][13][14][15]

The editorial board takes a critical stance towards postmodernism, Frankfurt school, feminism, queer theory, and identity politics.[16][17][18][19]
