Fighting Perry and Winfrey In A Court of Law - Docuseries[edit]

Fighting Perry and Winfrey in a Court of Law is a docuseries styled documentary set to be released September 10, 2023. The first 6 episodes premiered for free on Youtube, December 6, 2023 as an audience engagement test run release, while waiting for Prime Video Direct on-boarding process. The documentary premiered on Prime Video Direct, debut date December 22, 2023, for 3 episodes episodes 3, 4 and 6, and on December 27, 2023 Prime Video Direct featuring all 6 episodes for Season 1. The docuseries was inspired by several events of musician/author Terri Lowe's aka Terri Donald, Terri Strickland, Terri Tucker and playwriter William James real events occuring over a span of eleven years, from January 8, 2008 through November 1, 2019.

=== Background for the Documentary ===Terri Lowe aka Terri Donald born on June 22, 1970, was raised in the Fordham area of the Bronx, New York. explaining while she was serving as a Combat Photographer and NCOIC, of a Visual Information Support Center in the U.S. Army, in South Korea, Camp Humphreys, penned, copyrighted and released a novel in 2007, the title, "Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit." based on fiction and non-fiction events. A self-published author published with Infinity Publishing Company out of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. on January 8, 2008, Terri sent Tyler Perry, a copy of her book a l with a letter and joined Oprahs book club and sent Oprah an electronic and mailed copy of her book. During 2008, Terri released press that she was working on a trailer for the book, "Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit". September 13, 2008, Terri sent an additional copy of the book to Tyler Perry at his company, Tyler Perry studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Beginning Episode 1[edit]

William James, Born September 5, 1966, on the West side of Chicago and raised on the South side of Chicago, Illinois, stated while living in Chicago he penned and copyrighted a screenplay "Lovers Kill" in 2009, inspired from his true life events in the not so distant past. While working in construction of his own business BJ Rehab Construction Company, he was rehabilitating houses. He stated a man that he hired, had a niece named Barbara Hunt that worked as an accountant for the HARPO Studios in industrial section of NorthWest Chicago owned by, Oprah Winfrey. William tells a story of when he was offered to meet with Barbara through her uncle and during the meeting he provided Barbara with a copy of his manuscript "Lovers Kill" in 2011.

Both Terri and William tell similar stories from two separate perspectives and regions of the world, stating both of authors works went on to become films under the Writer/producer Tyler Perry and had films in controversy over their copyrights with arguments bolstering of infringement. In 2012, Terri said she watched a movie trailer on the Armed Forces Netork (AFN) while working as a Civilian titled, "Good Deeds" by Tyler Perry that Terri stated was similar to the theme of her book and prompted her to seek Tyler Perry out on twitter after failed phone calls to the Tyler Perry Studios. William similarly said, he received an emailed copy of the trailer for "Temptations" Tyler Perry movie and recognised the scenes of his screenplay in the trailer prompting him to reach out to Oprah and Tyler via email. William said after he contacted Tyler he changed the title of the movie to "Temptations, Confessions of a Marriage Counsellor" The television show, discusses documents for every area of the docuseries and make several claims.

Actual court cases filed[edit]

Both Terri and William said the failed attempts to successfully reach Tyler and Oprah prompted them to seek legal counsel and begin litigation. Terri contacted a Pennsylvania attorney to begin negotiations that failed prompting him to file the first legal action for Copyright Infringement, filed in Mar 12, 2013 the case transferred in from the United States District Court - District of Pennsylvania Eastern; Case Number: 2:12-cv-06629, November 24, 2012, to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) outhern District of New York (SDNY) DONALD v. THE TYLER PERRY COMPANY, INC. case No. (1:13-cv-01655). Meanwhile, William James filed a Copyright Infringement case in Gary, Indiana, case 2:13-cv-00139-RLM-PRC in the Eastern District of Indiana (EDIA). Terri filed a subsequent Copyright Infringement case in the Norther District of Georgia under the name Terri strickland on Spetember 25, 2015, case no. 15-cv-03400-TWT. Which ended with the denial of an appeal reversal with the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (11th Cir.) case no. 16-11601 in 2017.

Civil RICO[edit]

The documentary talks about the turning points for both Terri and William which did not believe they were getting a fair and equal access to justice. Terri explains how she reached out to William by email in February 2017 and the two came together as joint plaintiffs for a class action lawsuit. During the research of Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey’s prior court actions the two discovered a litany of legal actions that appeared to be similar to their own copyright infringement cases. The defendants prior cases were implemented into their complaint as evidence for predicate acts under 18 U.S.C 1961 for Criminal Copyright Plagiarism 18 U.S.C 2319 under Civil Racketeering, Influenced, Corrupt Organization (RICO) under 18 U.S.C. 1964. There were several other charges under Civil RICO as well as the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, as well as the Clayton Anti-Trust Act. The two Terri Lowe aka Terri Tucker and William James filed the case no 17-cv-01181-RWS-TWT under James et. al. v. Hunt et. al. on April 3, 2017. There were appeals filed by Terri and William in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (11th Cir.) case no. 17-prici-13294, case no. 17-prici-14866, and case no. 18-prici-13553. The last two appeals Terri and William filed were petition for writ of certiorari with the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., case docket nos. 18-1557 and 19-390.

The production[edit]

The docuseries Fighting Perry and Winfrey in a Court of Law" is produced and directed by Terri Lowe CEO of Tervanjay Films, Inc. and William James CEO of BJ Production, the story begins with the background of each author/writer and goes into varies issues the two encountered with their legal counsels, the court system, and what they believed was external and internal interference to include allegations of the Chief Federal District Judge Thomas W. Thrash, Jr. and being added to the complaint as a Civil RICO co-conspirator and Defendant while presiding, who had the case transferred to himself from the original presiding Judge Richard W. Story, Jr. a Senior Judge. Each episode takes a deeper dive into the court cases, the documents and what the writers think happened as a turning point in the case. The two discuss all of the events that occured in a tell-all documentary interview styled genre which unravels over a period of two seasons, Season 1 currently on Prime Video Direct has 6-1-Hour episodes and Season 2 which is under way for possible release dates of March or April 2024, will take a closer look at documents, play interesting recordings and come to a finally.
