Drunken Dragon (Chinese: 龍發威) is a 1985 Taiwanese action comedy martial arts film directed and written by Chiu Chung-Hing. The film stars Chiang Sheng as Granny, a Kung Fu master, Sun Kwok Ming as Doggy, Granny's nephew and aspiring martial artist, Lenug Ka Yan as Ko But Lee, an eccentric inventor, and Phillip Ko as Tung Fu, a villain seeking the Seven Star Armor to become the ultimate martial artist.
Plot[edit]
A Buddhist monastery guarding a magical item is attacked by villains seeking to steal it. The three villains Tung Fu, Roaring Fire, Doom Cart successfully fight their way through the monastery's garrison of martial artists, reaching the treasure's final line of defense. A warrior called Boatman Fighter uses a canoe and oars on the floor to defend the treasure, but is defeated. Before being killed, Boatman Fighter warns Tung Fu that he will be unable to access the treasure without the Seven Star Armor, a magical armor which renders the wearer invincible. Tung Fu and his followers leave in search of the Seven Star Armor.
Meanwhile, the master martial artist Granny and her nephew Doggy are waiting by the river for Doggy's new fiance Tiger Lass to arrive. Upon seeing her for the first time, Doggy is intimidated by her strength and size. Tiger Lass soon gets into an altercation with the town bully and wins the fight, displaying her own martial arts prowess. Later, Tung Fu arrives and discovers that Granny is the martial artist master in possession of the Seven Star Armor and attacks her. She successfully fends them off using the power of the armor and her martial arts skills, but Doggy is injured during the fight. With Doggy feeling insecure about his own martial arts skills, Granny sends him off with the Seven Star Armor to train with her old classmate Ko But Lee.
Ko But Lee initially refuses to train Doggy because he holds a grudge against Granny for refusing to marry him. He later agrees when he discovers that Granny's husband has died, seeing an opportunity to win her affection. After training, Doggy returns home to find that Granny, without the protection of the armor, was killed by Tung Fu. Doggy fights Tung Fu using the Seven Star Armor and wins, with Ko But Lee finishing off Tung Fu.
