Delta Phi Nu (ΔΦΝ) is a sorority founded at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario in 2008.

History[edit]

On January 1, 2008, two incredible women set out to start a sisterhood for strong, empowered, hard-working women. Their goal was to create an organization that would bring strangers who believed in similar values together to create life-long bonds of friendship while promoting self-development. This led to the creation of Omega Psi, a local sorority at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario. Their founding class consisted of two women:

  • Samantha Fox
  • Rebecca Gillespie

The Omega Psi chapter initiated its first class on May 14, 2008.

In 2017 the sorority started to expand to other Canadian universities and colleges, which resulted in the formation of a National Sorority, Delta Phi Nu, and Omega Psi was consolidated as a chapter under the newly formed national sorority Delta Phi Nu Canada.

In 2024 Delta Phi Nu expanded for the first time outside of Ontario in Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Symbols and traditions[edit]

The official colours are blue, white and silver. The official flower is the Delphinium. ΔΦΝ has an official jewel, the blue diamond.[1]

Every year on May 14th Delta Phi Nu celebrates their sisterhood together, with fun sisterhood events and bonding.

  • May 14 - National Founders Day

The open motto of the organization is Loyalty, Perseverance and Knowledge.

"In Loyalty, Knowledge, and Perseverance we pledge."-Samantha Fox[1]

Headquarters[edit]

Samantha Fox founded the National Council in November 2014. As Delta Phi Nu Canada was expanding, so was the need for a governing board to oversee the actions and service of the Fraternity.

The National Council is responsible for expanding Delta Phi Nu Canada and advising current Chapters through their regular business. The National Council ensures all traditions, history, values and standards are consistent and maintained by all Chapters and Colonies.

Leadership through service; the National Council continues to uphold the pillars of the organization so that each chapter can continue to operate at its full potential. The National Council continues to give their volunteered time and attention through duties because they believe in what Delta Phi Nu stands for. These duties and initiatives run by the National Council include and are not limited to:

Constitution, bylaw, tradition amendments

Chapter instruction and advising

Media relations

Taxes and incorporation

Creation of new policies

Education and marketing materials

Chapter expansion and membership development

National sisterhood and leadership events such as socials, contests, DeltaCon, formals, and workshops.
