Background[edit]

Daniel Ernest MacDonald was a Canadian engineer who worked as the Superintendent of Buildings in the Canadian province of Alberta from 1913 until 1936. In the year 2000, The Edmonton Heritage Council designated MacDonald's former home in Edmonton as an official historic site.[2] The Heritage Council officially named the historic site "the Thomas Scott Residence" after the home's first resident; however the council further clarified that the home is "perhaps better referred to historically as the Daniel MacDonald Residence" because Alberta's Superintendent of Buildings Daniel E. MacDonald lived there from 1917 until 1960.[2]

MacDonald's former residence at 9938 85 Ave NW in Edmonton is a Municipal Historic Site
