Cribl is an American software company based in San Francisco, California..[1], that produces observability software.

Its software helps capture, route, shape, reduce and redact data. It can be used as a universal receiver, to then forward traffic to a large number of destinations. Cribl was founded in 2017.

Founding & Early Years[edit]

Clint Sharp[2][3], Dritan Bitincka[4], and Ledion Bitincka[5] founded Cribl in 2017.[6] All three were former Splunk employees[7]

Cribl Stream[edit]

Cribl Stream is an observability pipeline that enables routing, reducing, and redacting data[16][17]. It helps organizations efficiently handle large volumes of data[18] by optimizing storage, managing costs, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.

Cribl Edge[edit]

Cribl Edge is designed to extend the capabilities of Cribl Stream to the edge of the network[19]. It allows for local data processing, filtering, and redaction before the data is sent to central systems. This helps in reducing bandwidth and improving response times.

Cribl Search[edit]

Cribl Search offers a search interface for analyzing and visualizing data across various observability platforms[20][21]. It enables complex queries and real-time insights, making it easier for organizations to understand and act upon their data.

AppScope[edit]

AppScope is an open-source instrumentation framework that provides deep visibility into application behavior without requiring code changes[22]. It helps in troubleshooting and monitoring applications by capturing metrics, traces, and logs at runtime.
