Chiang Min-yen (born January 1, 1996) holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from National Tsing Hua University (2022) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Hong Kong (2018). Chiang is a Taiwanese researcher and social activist. After graduating from university, he joined the Taiwan Economic Democracy Union and served as the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Outlanders. He is committed to resisting China's annexation of Taiwan and promoting social solidarity.
In his early years, Chiang Min-yen attended Mingdao High School in Taichung City, where he graduated with top scores, achieving the full marks of 75 on the university entrance examination. He subsequently earned a full scholarship to study economics at the University of Hong Kong. During his tenure there, he served as the Assistant Editor-in-Chief of "Undergrad," the student union's magazine. After graduating in 2018, he returned to Taiwan and enrolled in the Contemporary Chinese Studies program at the Graduate Institute of Sociology, National Tsing Hua University. He also became involved in social reform and political advocacy as a researcher with the Taiwan Economic Democracy Union. Following the outbreak of the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement, Chiang actively organized various events in Taiwan to support Hong Kong. These activities included the June 2019 "Support Hong Kong, Against Extradition" rally, the September 2019 "Support Hong Kong Against Tyranny: Taiwan-Hong Kong March," the June 2020 "The Fight Goes On, Taiwan Stands with Hong Kong" anniversary gathering, and the October 2020 "SAFE 12: Free the 12 Hong Kongers" march. Additionally, he assisted exiled Hong Kong political advocates in founding "Flow HK," contributing to the publication of materials and the ongoing development of discourse for the democratic movement.
