Sook Byun(邉肅, ?~1399) was a Goryeo government official and the father of the Duke Jeonseo fraction of Wonju Byun clan. Anyeol and Sook are uncle and nephew. Anyeol is the father of Wonju Byun. Sook Byun is the second generation of the Wonju Byun clan.
Sook is the second son of Anbaek, Anyeol's older brother. Ryang's first son is Anbaek, and his second son is Anyeol. Anbaek served as Feudal lord in Shenyang in the Yuan Dynasty. Ryang is the son of Soon, and served as Samjungdaegwang Munhachanseongsa (Minister) and Pan Yeuisasa Sanghogun (Major General) in Goryeo.

- Sook was ordered by Anyeol to make Wonju the Main building of the Byun Clan in Wonju. Sook's Character is Jaeom (Self-discipline), the Courtesy name is Moryeodang (Longing for Goryeo and keeping fidelity) and the posthumous name or Hui is Munjeol (Shining star)
- When Princess Noguk came to Goryeo in 1351, Anyeol was the head. Sook came to Goryeo as the 6th scholar. And Sook received the ‘Hobujeonseo’ of ‘Gajeongdaebu’ in Goryeo. The Ministry of Finance is the department in charge of matters related to taxes and national finances, and the Ministry of Finance currently corresponds to the Minister.
- When the future of Goryeo was in jeopardy, Sook and Rimmaeng Jo swore to be loyal to King Gongmin of Goryeo dynasty. After hearing the news that Mongju Jeong was murdered, Sook was saddened, saying that Sook and Mongju were people who depended on each other and were together. Mongju's pen name was Poeun. King Taejo (Seonggye Lee) found out about this and imprisoned Sook's wife and children, and Sook crossed over to Byeokranjin to the west with her son, Eulchung. When Goryeo fell, Sook kept his loyalty that he could not serve two kings, so he moved to the Paechon area and called the people living there ''Moryejeolsa ''. He is one of the 72 prefectures of Dumundong. Moryejeolsa means admiring Goryeo and maintaining fidelity. Dumundong is the old name of the western foot of Gwangdeok Mountain in Kwangduk-myeon, Kaepung County. Dumundong Seventy-Two People or Dumundong Seventy-Two Hyeon refers to the 72 Yusin who are said to have been loyal to Goryeo and maintained fidelity immediately after the fall of Goryeo. Dumundong Seventy-Two Hyeon was a representative symbol of fidelity and loyalty in Korea before modernization. The tomb is in Jaegkyung-dong (near Kaesong), at the eastern foot of Yongsu Mountain, Dong-myeon, Yonan County. Sook Byun died in 1399.
Descendants[edit]
The descendants of Sook, a descendant of Duke Jeonseo faction, lived in present-day Kaesong (or Kaepung or Yonbaek) for more than 600 years, until Eungzou, the 21st generation of Duke Jeonseo faction of the Wonju Byun clan (22nd generation of the Wonju Byun clan). Sook's descendants are Eulchung, Hwak (official position is Hojochamui of Joseon Dynasty, current Director), Jajung (official position is Hojochamui of Joseon Dynasty, current Director), We (official position is Jwachanseong of Joseon Dynasty, current Deputy Prime Minister), Ryangbo (official position is Cheomjungchu of Joseon Dynasty, current Major General), and Soo (official position is Hojochampan of Joseon Dynasty, current Vice Minister). Ryangbo Byun is the progenitor of Duke Cheomji fraction among Duke Jeonseo fraction of the Wonju Byun clan. The next generation is Yijin (official position is Byeongjochamui of Joseon Dynasty, current Minister), Hwan (official position is Tongdeokrang of Joseon Dynasty, current Deputy Governor), Sangdam (official position is Cheomjungchu of Joseon Dynasty, current Major General), Moon, Hankook, Kyungin (official position is Tongdeokrang of Joseon Dynasty, current Deputy Governor), Taehwa, Dongwoo, Jihyun, Seokyeon, and Seungphil, Hyungsik, Heepung, and Eungzou. Yijin Byun, a Jeollajwasuwoohu(current colonel), met Japanese enemy at sea on February 16, 1640 (18th year of King Injo of Joseon Dynasty) and died at Yeongam Chilsan (Songseok-ri, Haeje-myeon, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do). Eungzou Byun served in the KLO (Korea Liaison Office) unit during the Korean War and is also a founding member of Amore Pacific Co., Ltd.
