Draft:Bru Students Association

The Bru Students Association [1] commonly known as BSA, is one of the largest student organisations for the Bru/ Reang community in Mizoram . It was established by the earlier educated youth of the Bru community to support the causes of the Bru students residing in Mizoram. The Organisation was established in 1991 with the support of the Bru community. Since then, the organisation has been working tirelessly for the betterment of the Bru students and the community as a whole. Currently the BSA general headquarters is located in Aizawl Mizoram and it is further divided into Regional, Headquarter and branch in every Bru Village.

The objective of the Bru Student Association:

• To raise the standard of education and lifestyle among the Bru Community by organizing workshops, seminars, meetings, and conferences and arranging exposure / Developmental programs on sports, social, cultural, economic, and educational related issues.
• To safeguard the rights and welfare of the Bru students.
• To maintain peace and harmony with other communities.
• To maintain and preserve historical and cultural events of the Bru community

Activities of the Bru Students Association General Headquarter:

The BSA is actively engage in the Aizawl area which is the headquarter as well as at the Branch and Regional Level as well. The activities of the BSA for the 2022- 2023 are follows:

1. Fund Raising: The BSA's major source of funding is fundraising. BSA has arranged initiatives for 2022-2023, such as blanket washing and the sale of fortunate tickets. Nearly 20 people showed up to wash blankets, and approximately 15 blankets were laundered. The BSA received 3,100 from this initiative.
2. Community Service: The BSA is doing all possible to honour the Bru students and the community as a whole. Because the BSA General Headquarters is in Aizawl, Mizoram, if there are sick or needy individuals in hospitals, the BSA OB will try their best to meet them and aid them in whatever way they can.
3. Student Felicitation: One of the most significant things the BSA has done recently is organize a felicitation ceremony for Bru students in Aizawl, as well as at the Regional and Branch levels. We have been unable to plan the kids' felicitation program for the last three years because to COVID-19. However, the program was restarted in 2023, and up to 59 students who completed their studies - 10, 12, Bachelor, and Master - were given certificates of recognition. The BSA also used the initiative to push students to improve their exam scores and strive for academic achievement. Freshers are welcome in this program as well.
4. Career Guidance and Sport: The Bru Students' Association also arranged picnics and a career advising program. The BSA has prepared a picnic for the Office Bearer separately. This improves interactions among Office Bearers, fosters a stronger feeling of understanding, and leads to improved cooperation among leaders. We also planned picnics for our members. This year, 2023, we have prepared a picnic for the students on September 30th. Approximately 63 Bru students studying in the Aizawl region attended the program. During the picnic, students were urged to study harder and take their academics seriously. Apart from that, pupils received career coaching. Through this program, members were able to develop better interactions among themselves and create better relationships.
5. Blood Donation: The Bru Student Association (BSA) and the Bru Christian Fellowship (BCF) Aizawl have organized a blood donation event in Aizawl on October 30, 2023. Almost 40 people attended the program, and we gave 17 units of blood to the needy at the Aizawl Civil Hospital.
6. Cleanliness campaign: The Bru Student Association (BSA) also organized a cleanliness campaign on December 28, 2023. This initiative was observed by several of Mizoram's Bru villages. On this day, many of the kids and youngsters of the hamlet came together to clean up their surroundings.
