Brigadier Bhupesh Singh Hada, SC, VSM (born 1970) is an Indian Army officer of the 10 Para (SF)[1] and an avid mountaineer[2], who is the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) of Indian Army. He is the Titular King of erstwhile Princely State of Bundi. [3]. He ascended the gaadi of Hada (Chauhans) on 12 December 2021 in a ceremony conducted at the Raktdantika Mateshwari Temple, Sathoor, Bundi[4][5].

Early life[edit]

Brigadier Bhupesh was born to Maharaja Vijayraj Singh who is an educationist and social worker and belongs to the erstwhile Jaagir of Maalikpura and Chautron Ka Kheda. After his schooling from Sainik School, he joined the 79th-course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in January 1988 and was assigned to the Golf squadron, where he graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. After graduating from the NDA, he joined the Indian Military Academy and was commissioned as an officer. He subsequently attended the Higher Command Course at Naval War College and also earned a Post Graduation degree.

Career[edit]

Brigadier Bhupesh was commissioned into the Madras Regiment in 1991 and subsequently served with the Mechanised Infantry, [Regiment (India)|Parachute Regiment (Special Forces)] and [Frontier Force (SFF)]. He did Staff Duty at Headquarters of an Infantry Brigade. In the rank of Major he served as the Senior Sector Military Observer at the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea[6]. Brigadier Bhupesh commanded prestigious Special Frontier Force (SFF) Battalion as Colonel and has been Siachen Brigade Commander and Force Commander of National Security Guards (NSG).

Military Operations[edit]

He has served in Operation Rhino,Operation Orchid[7], Operation Prakram[8], Kargil-Vijay[9], Falcon[10], Meghdoot[11] and has had multiple tenures in Operation Rakshak[12].

Adventure[edit]

He is an adventure enthusiast and summited Mount Everest in 2012[13]. He is also a Paratrooper, Under Water Diver, Marathoner[14] and Para Glider Pilot[15].

Personal Life[edit]

Brigadier Bhupesh married Padmaja Rathore from the Jasol village of Barmer District. The couple have a son named Raghav Hada

For his act of courage and distinguished service, he has been awarded Saurya Chakra, Vishisht Seva Medal, Army Chief Commendations, GOC-in-C Commendation, United Nation Commanders Commendation and Parakram Padak (for sustaining bullet injuries during a mission). After successfully commanding Siachen Brigade, he is spearheading the Force One at National Security Guards (NSG). He summited Mount Everest[16] on 25th May 2012 and has participated in numerous ultra-Marathons. He belongs to Bundi and is extremely passionate about his birth place and people and has contributed immensely in carrying forward the great legacy of Hadauti region. For gallantry and outstanding service he has been conferred the following awards :-

Shaurya Chakra – Awarded in 1999 for sanitizing Northern Kashmir of terrorists through relentless anti-terrorist operations (Op Rakshak).

Vishist Seva Medal – Awarded in 2019 for commendable work done in Siachen Glacier(Op Meghdoot).

Prakram Medal – Awarded on being wounded during a mission (Op Rakshak).

Army Chief’s Commendation Badge – Awarded twice, once in 1997 for anti-terrorist operations (Op Rakshak) in J&K and second time in 2013 for adventure activities.

Army Commander’s Commendation Badge - Awarded in 1993 for anti-terrorist operations in Assam (Op RHINO). 

UN Force Commander’s Appreciation Card – Awarded in 2003 for distinguished services in peacekeeping mission in Ethiopia – Eritrea/UNMEE (Africa).

Director General NSG's Roll & Disc- Awarded in 2021 for commendable work done in NSG.
