Gabriel Christian Brown (born February 22, 1990), better known online as Black Gryph0n, is an American YouTuber, singer-songwriter, producer, voice actor, animator, and U.S. Navy veteran. He and his brother Nate appeared together on America's Got Talent.

Career[edit]

Brown created his YouTube account in September 2007 uploading primarily outdoor related content and comedic sketches. He continued to upload after enlisting in the US Navy. These videos included sky diving, parkour, sketches and trips abroad. He became involved in the brony fandom while stationed in Yokusuka, Japan and he began to release music and also My Little Pony related content such as the "-Licious" animations and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic-themed songs.

After being honourably discharged from the Navy he continued participating in the brony fandom releasing more songs like Proud To Be A Brony. He also started collaborating with Michelle Creber, a voice actor on My Little Pony. He had met Creber online while in Japan and they started working together and share the same agent. In July 2014, he released his first album IMmortal alongside his brother Nate, also known as Baasik, with songs loosely based on My Little Pony.

By around this time, Brown moved to Vancouver, Canada where he gained permanent residence and started a career as a voice actor. However, he found very little success only getting small or uncredited roles and background vocals in songs, while also doing scratch tracks for songs in shows. These roles include a guest appearance on Geronimo Stilton, and "Becky" in Finding Dory. He eventually moved back to Tucson, Arizona where he turned his focus to YouTube work.

He and Michelle Creber continued collaborating and touring, releasing a few albums together including Getting Stronger which was released in May 2016. In December Brown released his first impression video titled "One Guy 22 Voices" which gained popularity. He started releasing more song covers and impression videos which allowed him to reach 200,000 subscribers the following year. In March 2017, he collaborated with TomSka and LilDeuceDeuce to produce the novelty song, "Beep Beep I'm a Sheep", which was uploaded on LilDeuceDeuce's channel. In December 2018 Brown broke the 1 Million subscriber milestone.

In March 2019 the video "One Guy 54 Voices" was uploaded and went viral. He gained 3 million subscribers a few months after. In June he released the first single off his 2nd album titled, Last Chance. Four more singles were released until August 16th when he and his brother released the album Diamond, making its debut at BronyCon. In October, he provided the singing voice of Alastor in the pilot Hazbin Hotel (though it was recently announced that he and many of the cast from the pilot had been replaced for the upcoming series to be distributed by A24, despite him being a member of SAG-AFTRA). Then, at the end of the year, he was featured in YouTube Rewind for having the 4th most liked creator video of the year.

He was scheduled to appear on YouTubers react for FBE but was cancelled due to COVID-19.[2] He was also a finalist in the Shorty Awards for Best YouTube Musician.[3]

Personal life[edit]

Brown is from Annapolis, Maryland, and currently lives in Tucson, Arizona. He is married to Claire Corlett, as of November 2022.
