Bintia Bangura (born December 28, 1978, in Magdeburg) is a German pop and soul singer.

Life[edit]

Bintia Bangura was born on December 28, 1977, the daughter of a Guinean and a German, and spent much of her childhood in Berlin. She attended the Französisches Gymnasium in Berlin-Tiergarten for five years. In 1993, at the beginning of the 10th grade, the family moved to the Caribbean on the island of Saint Thomas.

A few years later, Bintia was persuaded by a friend in Berlin to join the group Finesse. In 1999, she recorded an English-language album with Vanessa Mason in the formation TiaVan. Both presented the CD together on the European Gladiator Tour, but a possible release date was never announced due to internal label problems.

After finishing school, Bintia went back to Germany in 2000, where she turned down a basketball scholarship to pursue a career as a singer instead. In 2001, she signed her first record deal with Def Jam Germany, which resulted in her debut album B.I.N.T.I.A and the single Über Den Wolken that same year. However, the hoped-for success failed to materialize and the label parted ways with her just a few months after signing the contract. Around the same time, Bintia contributed some productions to Yvonne Catterfeld's debut album, for whose tour she was hired as a backing singer at the end of 2001.

In 2002, her then husband Harris, with whom she has three children, introduced Bintia to Xavier Naidoo and Billy Davis. They offered her the chance to sing under Naidoo's label Beats Around The Bush. Her second single, the mid-tempo ballad Wenn Der Himmel, brought her her first commercial success and promoted work on her new LP B-Ständig, which was released in the summer of 2004 and includes the duet Tage Und Stunden with Xavier Naidoo. She had also worked on several songs for the project "Deine Lieblingsrapper", which consists of Harris and Sido.
