Overview[edit]

Bettech, a portmanteau of “betting technology”, refers to the set of technology and data tools and platforms that firms working within and supplying the betting and gaming industry utilize. The nascent sector encompasses areas and technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning (and deep neural networks), trading modeling and forecasting that help efficiencies in odds compilation, customer engagement and retention, and personalization, among other areas.

BetTech has emerged in recent years as a catch-all term for any technological innovations related, but not exclusive to, the betting and gaming industry, and is seen as an advance on previous, more manual processes which were less efficient at interpreting large data sets.

The term has become more commonplace in recent years, with high-profile M&A activity highlighting its importance[1], the likes of FairPlay Sports Media regarding it as a core pillar in the company’s operations[2], and Spotlight Sports Group’s annual publication of the “BetTech Report[3]” which takes an unbiased look at the role betting technology plays in the wider gaming ecosystem.
