Ashlae Blume is a composer, musician, programmer, and technologist from the United States. They are currently based in Los Angeles, CA.

Musical Styles and Influences[edit]

Ashlae is a contemporary performer using a variety of media, including livecoding, improvised vocals, trumpet, keyboards, effects pedals, and electronics..[1] They have expressed a wide range of music including pop, electronic, neoclassical, experimental, noise, jazz, and a variety of global folk genres[2][3]. Their music has been strongly influenced by their travels throughout North America and Europe, with styles from Brazilian, Balkan, West African, and Middle Eastern music featuring prominently in their sonic toolkit[4]

Art+Tech Performance[edit]

With a strong relationship to audio-adjacent fields, Ashlae has developed a unique practice in art+tech spheres. Using livecoding, elctronics, and live audio, they have developed a variety of sount art installations and live conceptual performances. In addition to the performance arena, Ashlae has also presented their work at international conferences and symposia.[5][6][7]

Biography[edit]

Ashlae was born in Baltimore, MD, and is of Jewish, Arab, French, German, and Irish descent. Beginning in 2008, they have spent considerable time in New Orleans and consider this to be their home city.
