Draft:Alliance for Democracy and Freedom

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alliance for Democray and Freedom is a fringe political party in the United Kingdom established in 2020.[1] Ideologically, the ADF combines social conservatism with centre-left economic policy. They support a social market economy alongside Euroscepticism [2]

They were formed by ex-UKIP members Paul Goldring,[3][4] Mike Hookem,[5]Keith Lonsdale and Ernie Warrender [6] and the current Leader of the party is Dr. Teck Khong.[7][8] Khong was a critic of mandatory vaccinations both for healthcare workers and for those not in the healthcare sector, and was also critical of the Government's lockdown strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic.[9][10]

Khong was the organiser of the Belmont Declaration meeting, where he asked smaller parties and smaller fringe parties to merge or create a pact, for the most impact in future elections. [11] Whilst many agreed in principle, only The Time Party signed the declaration [12] They have since de-registered as a political party. [13]

History[edit]

The party has fielded candidates in council, town council and parish council elections, but has yet to have a councillor elected, although sitting councillors have joined the party in 2023 and 2024.[14][15][16][17]

Principles[edit]

The Alliance for Democracy and Freedom (ADF) upholds the belief that all individuals possess inherent rights to Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association and Assembly, and Complete Bodily Autonomy. These fundamental rights are immutable and cannot be revoked by any governmental authority, legislative body, or judicial institution.

Furthermore, the ADF advocates for the United Kingdom to refrain from membership in what they regard as non-democratic supranational organizations. This includes, but is not limited to, entities such as the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). However, the ADF acknowledges the potential for beneficial bilateral agreements with individual nations that serve the security and prosperity of the UK.

The ADF staunchly opposes the implementation of any future lockdown measures under any circumstances. Additionally, it asserts that the UK should vigorously defend its borders while refraining from engaging in foreign military interventions that do not directly pertain to the immediate defense of these borders, including those of its overseas territories.

Moreover, the ADF advocates for the UK to strive for self-sufficiency in energy, food, and manufacturing production. It supports the freedom of individuals and businesses to transact in any form of currency they choose, while advocating for banknotes and coinage issued by the Bank of England to be backed by tangible assets at a fixed level.

The ADF proposes restrictions on fractional-reserve banking by eliminating limited liability for banks engaged in this practice. It advocates for a small, local, efficient, and fully accountable government. Additionally, the ADF asserts that education and healthcare should remain accessible to all at the point of need, with parents and patients offered genuine choice in delivery options.

Furthermore, the ADF calls for electoral reform to ensure that representation aligns more closely with votes, with increased utilization of referenda. It advocates for a ban on individuals associated with the World Economic Forum (WEF) or similar bodies from holding elected office or any paid public sector position.

The ADF emphasizes the importance of elected representatives maintaining a personal connection with their respective wards/constituencies and prioritizing the interests of their constituents over party affiliations. Legislative votes should reflect the needs of constituents, and representatives must uphold their campaign pledges or face potential recall by voters.

As a matter of policy, the ADF commits to never enforcing party discipline on elected representatives. It acknowledges taxation as a necessary evil and advocates for a progressive taxation system with a greater burden on the wealthy.

Finally, the ADF acknowledges the UK's history of welcoming genuine asylum seekers and immigrants whose skills align with the country's needs. It pledges to uphold this tradition while vigilantly addressing illegal entry into the UK.[18][19]
