Contested deletion[edit]

This category should not be speedy deleted as being unpopulated, because the category isn't empty. The same user that proposed the deletion emptied it beforehand to bypass a decision to keep it. --Antondimak (talk) 07:09, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There was no "decision" to keep it. Antondimak populated this with inappropriate content to avoid deletion during discussion. Once the discussion was over, I've examined each article, and removed those that were incorrectly categorized. The result was empty. And will be empty again.

There was in fact a decision to keep it. I added only one of the articles in the category during the discussion, and I was open about it. See, I am the main contributor in this category tree, and I constantly work on these categories. There was a presumption that these categories wouldn't grow, and therefore should be deleted. With the article I added (that has "Maroneia" it its title for crying out loud), it was proven that this category should exist, even in the worst case scenario that it never grows in the future (which it will, there are more articles about people from Maroneia in the Greek Wikipedia). William Allen Simpson has followed the same tactic of emptying categories and tagging them for deletion many times. In the cases were he provided reasons for the removal, I responded as to why they were incorrect. --Antondimak (talk) 14:08, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I should also mention that you did object to this category being kept during this discussion, saying again that its contents were dubious (as you have said for every Greek location category that meets the 5 article criterion to try to get it deleted, switching your arguments over time), and the result was still to keep it. --Antondimak (talk) 14:12, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And I also just remembered that I didn't readd the articles you removed from the category, despite explaining why the reasoning was incorrect. Despite that, the category still remained large enough. --Antondimak (talk) 14:29, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
