Open world games[edit]

Which of these is open world?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Thief Tomb Raider (2013)

Typically, discussions about individual articles to include in a category would not occur at the category talk page. Very very few people watch the category talk pages. Please use the talk pages for the individual articles in question, such as Talk:Thief (video game) and Talk:Tomb Raider (2013 video game), in order to get meaningful input. -- ferret (talk) 23:08, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Key words to look for[edit]

I know I've been randomly adding games, but I'd like to know, are there any key words in game reviews that signal a game is open world? I know there are the terms open world and free roam, but are there any out there besides those?ECW28 (talk) 09:18, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Darkness[edit]

Does anyone else think that The Darkness belongs in the open world category? Let me knowECW28 (talk) 20:26, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3[edit]

This game still doesn't have a page dedicated to it. I've got no idea how to create one, so if anyone else would like to, please don'tDohvahkiin (talk) 11:38, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ELEX by Nordic Games[edit]

ELEX doesn't have a page dedicated to it yet. Like I've said in my previous comment, I've got no idea how to make one, so I just thought I'd post this and let people know and if someone wants to make one, they canDohvahkiin (talk) 12:51, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Minimum number of sources[edit]

I've been thinking about this for a while, but is there a minimum number of sources needed in order to add a game into this category. I'm trying to weed out the games that are borderline, from the true open world games (Rise of the Tomb Raider for instance has just one reviewer out of many calling it an open world). If there isn't a minimum number, I'd like to suggest that we discuss this.Dohvahkiin (talk) 15:38, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox distinction[edit]

I've noticed that the Open-world video games category is used as a catch-all inclusive of Sandbox video games, with the category page for the latter redirecting here. As a matter of curiosity, I was wondering about the reason for the lack of distinction between the two. Is it a matter of convenience? Is it something to the ends of preventing conflicts regarding the classification? Fact Scanner (talk) 09:11, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
