I propose that the templates regarding who has received the Nobel prize are changed not to include the word "winners". Working on the articles related to this year's recipients and ITN I have come across varieties of this way of speaking about the prize. You never "win" a Nobel Prize, it is awarded to you for an achievement. (Would anyone ever say that someone "won" a Purple Heart?) It's not an international lottery. Having templates called "Nobel Prize winners" only ads to the confusion. Pinging @PrimeHunter: since they seems to be working with this. w.carter-Talk 08:46, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I created many of the templates but just copied the name from existing templates for other years. The template names are not shown in mainspace so the precise name is not very important. Google finds many sources saying winners, e.g. Nature, National Geographic, CNN, and Google itself in the search Nobel Prize winners with Google-made features I haven't seen before. Another word from the beginning (maybe laureates instead of recipients) might have been better but I don't think it's worth changing now. Note that for my admin account, "Page information" in the left pane shows this page only has 4 watchers (others may only see "Fewer than 30"), and [1] says 7 views of this talk page in the last 30 days. @PrimeHunter: Thanks for answering, I know this page doesn't get much traffic, which is why I pinged you just to start somewhere (otherwise, where else?). I also know that the "winning" is a very widespread (albeit wrong) terminology and not visible in the articles, but editors see it just the same when editing.
