Basis[edit]

There's a debate on GT European Series talk page about how to cover the GT4 class in general. The Wikipedia category is useful whatever happens to this page and whether or not a standalone GT4 page is created. I've tried to follow GT3 precedent where possible but GT4 is a class managed by SRO and used by multiple other notable sportscar bodies, sometimes under a different name (eg some minor series use GTH; ADAC use SP10; FIA themselves use GT4 but the tech regs specifically delegate management of the class to SRO).

Therefore some pages in this category may not actually contain the phrase "GT4" anywhere.

Terminology[edit]

The GT3 category is itself a member of "Racing car classes" so I have stayed with "class" rather than "group" or "category." In many series' regulations the class is referred to as "SRO GT4" but given some prominent FIA series use the class too, this felt confusing.

Note historically some editors have fallen foul of this confusion so "Group GT4" appears in various articles but actually refers to the current SRO GT4 class; "Group xxx" is FIA terminology and not correct for GT4. Tech regs for many series refer to "SRO GT4."
