"For-profit"[edit]

shouldn't every college be on this list? Because I'm quite certain that a "higher" education doesn't really cost upwards of 19,000 dollars a year, since the public school system is free, and ther education is about the same.

While I undersstand the point, the answer is no. There is a legal (tax and corporate) based reason for making the "for-profit" designation --in addition to the smarmy business and marketing tactics used by these institutions (although, to be fair, not all). While the bottom-feeders of non-profit colleges (and there are hundreds of them in the US) do act in ways that mimic the purely for-profit ventures (since they need students to survive), it is a category based on clearly delinated differences and not complaints of how much tuition costs.
