I added Dr. Strange but I'm not sure he belong here; although he's in a superhero universe, he is the Sorceror Supreme, not a science superhero. However, I see this would open the door to a lot of his ilk, e.g. Dr. Fate, The Spectre et cetera. Is that the intent of this category? I also added a couple of Sigilverse titles that appear to be fantasy, the First and Route 666. However in some sense all the Sigil is connected ... it wouldn't make sense to include the ScienceFiction stuff here. How to draw the line? rewinn 03:25, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello rewinn. The discussion that led to the creation of this category is documented at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Comics/Archive06#Genre_Categories.3F. As you can see, a clear decision was never reached as to whether superhero titles would recieve dual-categorization where applicable or just be left out of genre categorization. My intention when creating the fantasy category in particular was to specifically not include any comic that features superheroes, and I thought it was important to actually state that preference on the main category page, since Wikipedia does in fact define superheroes as a subgenre of fantasy (see Fantasy subgenres#Superhero fantasy). This definition gives the category a problem that Category:Science fiction comics and Category:Horror comics do not share in that we could technically place all superhero titles in this category, a move that I think would largely obliterate its usefulness. I realize that Dr. Strange has a stronger connection to the fantasy genre than most superheroes, but excluding superheroes altogether seems to me to be the clearest place to draw the line. I'm in favor of removing Dr. Strange from the category, but I'll wait awhile in case there's some further discussion to be had. Xastic 22:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
