About this category[edit]

I made this category when I established Marketing of off-label use and as I was working on other Wikipedia articles about the price of drugs. Right now, Wikipedia is heavy on talking about recreational drug advertising and light on industry drug advertising. Also, Wikipedia articles do little to distinguish the different types of drug industry marketing, including marketing to consumers, professionals, institutions, etc. Each of these kinds of marketing could be its own Wikipedia article.

As alternative names for this category, I considered "pharmaceutical marketing" after the Wikipedia article by that name but I thought that "drug advertising" was a simpler and more clear word choice that was good enough to cover all the uses that I imagined. Also, I thought that the category should include recreational drug advertising like alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana and also drugs outside the pharmaceutical industry, like alternative medicine.

I wish that the category's title included other advertising of other drug-like medical treatments, like perhaps ayurveda or acupuncture, but right now, Wikipedia does not have articles on those concepts anyway. I think this works for now. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:15, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
