Category talk:American city founders

Is this defining? How big does the place have to be? Does it make sense when we have 33 people for one place?

I am at a loss in considering of this is defining. It seems to in many cases be heading towards over categorization when we already have too many categories. It also is mixing many situations. Some of these people created planned cities, but that is more the exception. Some were first settlers in a village that still has under 1,000 people. Some set up a cabin at a place that became a city. Others were part of a group of founders of a new community. I think this borders on trivial Category. I think if there is domething defining here, we need to limit it yo places that are cities, and limit it yo people who actively were founding a city, not a post office, rail stop or an inn or tavern that became the center of a later city. I am not sure we can fo that, but I do not think the currentvset-up is working.
