The Dachstein Mountains are a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps, part of the Eastern Alps, located in Austria.

The boundary for the region is based on the definition of the Northern Limestone Alps and its subdivision into individual ranges according to the Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE). By this definition the Dachstein Mountains are bounded by the line: Rußbach -- Paß Gschütt -- Gosau -- Gosaubach -- Hallstätter See -- Pötschenhöhe -- Bad Aussee -- Kainisch-Traun -- Bad Mitterndorf -- Klachau -- Grimmingbach -- the Enns to its confluence with the Weißenbach -- Ramsaubach -- Schildlehenbach -- Kalte Mandling -- Warme Mandling -- Marcheggsattel -- Fritzbach -- Linbach -- Neubach -- Lungötz -- the Lammer to confluence with the Rußbach www.bergalbum.de.
