ALGOL 58 dialects typically predate 1960 and are inspired by the Preliminary Report on the International Algorithmic Language written in Zürich in 1958. They typically strive to be "Algol like" and incorporating many of its most useful or obvious features such as procedure definitions, type declarations like integer & real, and begin ~ end blocks.
