Arjunan Pillayum Anchu Makkalum (transl. Arjunan Pillai and five children) is a 1997 Indian Malayalam-language film directed and produced by Chandrasekharan. The film stars Innocent, Jagadish, Jagathy Sreekumar, Harishree Ashokan, KPAC Lalitha, Kalpana, Charmila, Baiju Santhosh and Bindu Panicker in the lead roles. The film has musical score by Mohan Sithara.[1][2][3] It is a remake of the 1996 Tamil film Kaalam Maari Pochu.

Plot[edit]

Arjunan Pillai (Innocent (actor)) marries off his 3 of his 4 educated daughters - Jayalakshmi (Bindu Panicker), Jayaprabha (Kalpana (Malayalam actress)) and Jayasree (Charmila), to responsible, but low-earning simple human beings Sudhakaran (Jagathy Sreekumar), Thankakuttan (Harisree Ashokan) and Uthaman (Jagadish) through broker Adjustment Ayyappan (Salu Kuttanadu). This makes his 3 daughters and his wife Sarada angry. He plans to get his only son Ajayan (Baiju Santhosh) to a rich family. Sudhakaran works as a Caterer, Thankakuttan works as a Municipality Worker and Uthaman works as an Autorickshaw Driver. Arjunan Pilla hides the facts that Uthaman is Autorickshaw Driver from Jayasree for which Jayasree relocates to her Uthaman's house along with Uthaman. Uthaman, Sudhakaran and Thankakuttan plans to make their wives ask for Rs. 1 lakh each from their father for starting business but Arjunan Pilla refuses. Arjunan Pillai later divests his all properties to Ajayan for taking a loan. Though Sharada refuses the action Arjunan Pillai goes forward resulting in Sharada's death. Ajayan later misappropriates Arjunan Pillai's properties after Sharada's Death cheating his father and throws Arjunan Pillai and Jayasudha out of their home. They seek refuge under Parameswaran (Mala Aravindan) and his wife Madhavi who shelters them . The three son-in-laws fight together along with Arjunan Pillai and Later, his 3 daughters get reconciled with their respective spouses. K. G. P Menon (C. I. Paul) tries to break the unity of the Son-in-laws of Arjunan Pilla but they stay together. They gets back the property to Arjunan Pillai from Ajayan and Ajayan in turn gets incriminated for cheating. Arjunan Pillai, Uthaman, Sudhakaran and Thankakuttan prepares for marriage of Jayasudha. Though Ajayan tries to sabotage the marriage with the help of his father-in-law K.G.P. Menon all tries end in vain. Finally Ajayan disrupts the marriage function of Jayasudha but Arjunan Pillai's hell breaks loose and start beating Ajayan. Finally Ajayan realizes his mistake seeking apology from Arjunan Pillai for his actions and the whole family joyfully celebrates Jayasudha's marriage.
