Alberto Fontana (born 14 June 1990), known professionally as Alberto Naska, is an Italian racing driver, YouTuber, and Internet personality who had competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving the No. 54 and No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro for CAAL Racing in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. He competed in EuroLegend Cup with car number 54, together with Heroes Valley team and in Mitjet Italian Series with team GRT Motorsport, sharing his car with Ian Rocca. He also raced as wild card in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. In 2024, he is competing in FX Pro Championship and Lotus Cup Italy, organized by Formula X Italian Series and in Mitjet Italian Series, with his historic number 54.

Early life and education[edit]

Alberto Naska was born in Turin, in the Piedmont region, in 1990. In 2012, he graduated in 2012 at the Polytechnic University of Turin as computer engineer,[2] and moved to Milan the next year where he opened a racing social network and worked as videomaker.[3]

Racing career[edit]

Naska debuted in 2006 as a virtual racer and won a championship in 2007 year.[citation needed] As a reward, he received the possibility of driving a Formula Renault 2000 Lite on track. In 2012, Naska took part at the Swiss racing reality show Make it Your Race, organized by Abarth and won the Abarth Benelux Trophy in 2013.[citation needed] In 2018, Naska began his amateur motorcycle racing career in the Trofeo Motoestate in the Race Attack 1000 division, where he ended up 5th.[4] He won the title in 2019;[5] in 2020, an ankle injury terminated his motorcycle career. Also in 2018, he started his formula racing career in the FormulaX Italian Series championship Formula Predator where he raced until 2021. From 2021, he also raced in the Legend Cars Italia series where he ended 2nd in both the 2021 and 2022 season. In 2022, he announced he would race in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series with the CAAL Racing's number 88 car for that season in the Euronascar 2 division.[6][7] Naska finished his debut season with five wins and a 2nd place overall both in the rookie and in the general standings.[8]

For the 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season, Naska switched to the number 54, still with CAAL Racing. He also raced in the Mitjet Italian Series , sharing car number 54 from GRT Motorsport with Ian Rocca and in EuroLegend Cup, also with car number 54, together with Heroes Valley team. At the first round at Circuit Valencia, he finished 2nd in both Euro Series races behind Vladimiros Tziorzis. At the second round at Brands Hatch, he finished second in Race 1 behind Vladimiros Tziortzis and 3rd in a rainy Race 2 behind Vladimiros Tziortzis and Paul Jouffreau. At the third round at Autodromo Vallelunga, he won Race 1 in front of Paul Jouffreau and Gil Linster; Tziortzis, the championship leader, ended up 4th. Naska finished 2nd in Race 2 behind Jouffreau. At the fourth round at Autodrom Most, he ended up 14th in Race 1 and 1st in Race 2. At the fifth round at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, he took 2nd position in Race 1 and 15th in Race 2; he was now 2nd in the championship 3 points behind Tziortzis, with only the final races at Circuit Zolder still to be raced and with double points awarded. After two unsuccessful races at Circuit Zolder (in Race 1 he collided with Paul Jouffreau in Race 1, while he had reliability issues in Race 2), he ended the season in 6th, 57 points away from the lead, while his EuroNascar Pro teammate Gianmarco Ercoli won the championship with the number 54 car. He ended up 15th in Mitjet Italian Series championship, sharing car number 54 from GRT Motorsport with Ian Rocca (who ended up 31th) after a season tormented by problems. Naska also won the 2023 EuroLegend Cup championship.

In 2024, Naska races in Formula X Italian Series's Championships, FX Pro, and Lotus Cup Italy, and also in Mitjet Italian Series. At the first two races at Mugello, he won Race 2 in Lotus Cup Italy, after concluding Race 1 in 2nd position. In FX Pro category, he concluded Race 1 in 5th position, after having taken pole position. He took 2nd place in Race 2 because of grid inversion of the top-6. He concluded a sort-of-rainy Race 2 in 2nd position, losing the race at the last lap. After the disqualification of Patrik Fraboni, who concluded the race in 1st place at the beginning and whose car was found not conform to technical regulations, Naska inherited the win in Race 2. At the second round, in Varano de Melegari, he ended Race 1 of Formula 4 category with a win, while Race 2 at the second place. In Lotus Cup Italy championship he won both races.

In Mitjet Italian Series, his rivals include amongst others his friend Ian Rocca and EuroLegend Cup contender Davide Gaggianesi. At the first round at Circuit Paul Ricard, he ended Race 1 and 2 in P3, Race 3 in P2 and Race 4 in P6.

Personal life[edit]

In 2016, Naska opened his YouTube channel, which through the years reached over 900,000 followers. In his channel, he makes blogs about his racing career and other experiences outside motorsport.[9] In 2020, Naska published his autobiographical book Fino all'ultima curva.[10]

1) The second race of the third round of the 2018 Race Attack 1000 championship, in Cervesina, was canceled following a red flag, exposed due to an oil spill along the main straight, due to a failure on D'Ambrosio's motorbike, without having completed the sufficient number of laps to complete the race. The same accident occurred before the second race in Franciacorta, in the first round of the 2019 Race Attack 1000 championship, forcing the cancellation of the race due to lack of sufficient time to fix the track for the start.
2) In Predator 2018 Championship we refer only to category podiums.
3) In Trofeo Predator's 2019 Championship we see only 7 starts in 10 races, with Race 2 in Varano cancelled and two races at Circuito di Adria that have not been raced.
