AdventHealth South Overland Park is a non-profit hospital in Overland Park, Kansas owned by AdventHealth.

History[edit]

On January 24, 2019, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission announced that it was constructing a new $150 million 193,000-square-foot hospital in Overland Park, Kansas with 85 hospital beds.[2][3] It expected that the new hospital would create 200 full-time jobs.[2][3] On October 11, 2019, construction workers began construction of AdventHealth South Overland Park.[4] Rocks had to be broken at the 14.5-acre site of the hospital, all total 12,000 cubic yards were removed.[5]

On November 13, 2020, AdventHealth and GE Johnson celebrated the topping out of AdventHealth South Overland Park.[6]

On September 30, 2021, AdventHealth South Overland Park opened with 38 beds, and there is enough land for the hospital to expand to 150 beds in the future.[7][8] It was built next to AdventHealth South Overland Park ER and a medical office building which were constructed in 2017.[5][8] Laura Kelly was at the grand opening of the new hospital.[8][9]

On October 7, 2021, AdventHealth South Overland Park began admitting patients.[10][11] It became the first new hospital to open in the Kansas City metropolitan area in 15 years.[7]

Services[edit]

In 2022, AdventHealth South Overland Park started doing bariatric surgery by partnering with KC Bariatric.[12] In 2023, it started robotic surgery for knee replacement which allows patients to recover quicker. It became the first in Johnson County to do Aquablation therapy for patients with an enlarged prostate. It also started minimally invasive spine surgery.[12]
