The 2023–24 Memphis Tigers women's basketball team represents the University of Memphis during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Tigers, led by first-year head coach Alex Simmons, play their home games at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse in Memphis, Tennessee as members of the American Athletic Conference.

Previous season[edit]

The Tigers finished the 2022–23 season 22–11, 11–4 in AAC play to finish in second place.[1] As the #2 seed in the AAC tournament, they defeated #10 seed UCF in the quarterfinals,[2] before falling to #3 seed East Carolina in the semifinals.[3] They received an automatic bid into the WNIT, where they would defeat Jackson State in the first round[4] and Ball State in the second round,[5] before falling to Bowling Green in the Super 16.[6]

On March 24, 2023, head coach Katrina Merriweather announced her resignation after two years at the helm, in order to take the head coaching job at her alma mater, Cincinnati.[7] On April 6, Gardner–Webb head coach Alex Simmons was announced as Merriweather's successor.[8]
