2024 Patriot League tournament winner

The 2023–24 American Eagles men's basketball team represented American University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by first-year head coach Duane Simpkins, played their home games at Bender Arena located in Washington, D.C. as members of the Patriot League.

Previous season[edit]

The Eagles finished the 2022–23 season 17–15, 7–11 in Patriot League play, to finish in a four-way tie for sixth place. As the No. 7 seed in the Patriot League tournament, they defeated Bucknell and Navy before losing to Lafayette in the semifinals.[1]

Following the conclusion of the season, head coach Mike Brennan was fired.[2] On April 1, 2023, the school would name George Mason assistant coach Duane Simpkins the team's new head coach.[3]
