Zoë Warren[edit]

If Joss Whedon is on the record as saying Zoë's surname is Washburne née Alleyne, and Firefly never explicitly mentions her surname, why on Earth-That-Was has this article been moved to "Zoë Warren"? I know IMDb lists her under this name, but IMDb can be and often is wrong. Is there a single reliable source for this information? Apparently in early versions of the film Serenity, Zoë's surname was shown as Warren, but by the time the film was released (and in the novelization, Visual Companion, and Role Playing Game), her name was finalized as Zoë Alleyne Washburne. In one of the featurettes on the "Serenity" DVD, she is still identified as Zoë Warren.Shsilver 18:25, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What's in a name?[edit]

OK, two small issues of naming:

First of all, an anon user at 216.204.87.250 pointed out that the scripts spell her name without the dieresis (that is, Zoe rather than Zoë). I can't confirm the shooting scripts per se, but that's how it's spelled in Serenity: The Visual Companion.
Second, where in the Visual Companion does it say that Zoe took Wash's name? I'm not doubting whoever put that in, I just can't find it myself.

So, should the article remain where it is, or be moved to Zoe Washburne or Zoe Alleyne? —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 05:38, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The official websites also spell her name without the dieresis. It should be changed.

Mercenary?[edit]

Zoe is listed in the "fictional mercenary" category. No mention is made in the series to her being a mercenary. Is this categorization really appropriate? Edlin2 05:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My guess would be that whoever added that category thought that since the entire crew of Serenity occasionally took jobs fighting for money (e.g. defending the whorehouse in Heart of Gold), they could be considered mercenaries. name[edit]

okay, from what i understand, zoe's name is Zoë Washburne. her madien name was Alleyne, not her middle name... so why is it Zoë Alleyne Washburne? shouldnt it be Zoë Alleyne-Washburne or just Zoë Washburne?

Rifle?[edit]

The article states that zoe's rifle is the same one used in The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., but in the briso county article the weapon (used by lord bowler) is a shotgun. Can anyone explain this? Mooseofshadows 20:12, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Level Headed[edit]

Just a comment about Zoe "thinking with her head [in battle]". She obviously wasn't thinking straight in Serenity after wash had died and walked up to the reavers trying to get through the door. Perhaps we should make a note about that? She's only human... a very sexy human... but still, she definetly showed us her raging heart when she walked up to the door instead of staying 'behind the line'. --Sidewinded 05:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Character analyses based on personal observations of works (as opposed to independent, published, reliable sources) are forbidden original research. The rampant inclusion of this kind of material is one of the reasons that so many earnest Wikipedians are getting serious about deleting TV-show adjunct articles about characters and episodes. Every time we give in to this desire to wax eloquent without using reliable sources, we bring closer the day these articles will simply be deleted as hopelessly fannish. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 12:56, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a new reference to the article, although I was hoping that someone with more expertise on this matter could better integrate it into the article. However, people are rushing to judgment as if this source doesn't exist just because it isn't mentioned here, so I've added it.
