"...the Scarlet Pimpernel, the masked vigilante who..."[edit]

The Pimpernel did not wear a mask. This seems to be a common misconception perpetuated by of all things the Daffy Duck cartoon The Scarlet Pumpernickel, which was more a pastiche of Zorro & The Pimpernel. (I guess that’s where most got their impression of the character?) In the original stories, movies, and as in the Blackadder episode; he does not wear a mask but disguises, impersonates people. There is no masked Pimpernel person like you see in the Daffy Duck cartoon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orzzo (talkcontribs) 18:05, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The cut "garlic smell" line[edit]

Is it known why it was cut from the DVDs etc? I can't think of a reason. 86.146.232.17 01:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is garbage - non verifiable and not reproduced. Removing it. Hakikev (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 01:40, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It still needs a reference, though, so I've stuck a {{fact}} tag in there. "Apparently over 'contractual issues'" is incredibly vague. And what did this contract say, anyway: "On video releases, Mr. Atkinson shall not be required to finish poems by Mr. Robinson?" It really doesn't make any sense on the face of it! 86.132.138.159 (talk) 21:27, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The line is said on my Region 4 DVD. Is it really omitted from other releases? Dazcha (talk) 07:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. It was cut out on the original VHS releases, and is also cut out on the Region 2 DVD "Complete Blackadder" box set. Most DVD releases of old TV shows are edited, and even TV repeats are now usually heavily edited for scheduling purposes. It's not unusual. 94.193.182.242 (talk) 10:35, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
