Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was Do not move. Consensus (including myself) disagrees with the subproposal to move Brass knuckles to Brass knuckles (weapon) as well. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:21, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brass Knuckles (album)Brass Knuckles — Upcoming album by Nelly. The proposed title exists as a redirect to the weapon Brass knuckles. Since two titles with different capitalizations can exist (if one is a proper noun and the other is an improper noun), this should be the new title. For example see Death certificate, the document for a person's death, and Death Certificate, the album by Ice Cube. —Admc2006 17:32, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Oppose - I oppose this one. As far as I know the weapon "brass knuckles" is the more commonly referred to than the album. Why the album was not even mentioned in the first ten google hits. Whereas the weapon was mentioned twice once being on wikipedia the other time not. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to create "Brass Knuckles" as a disambig page and move the Brass Knuckles weapon to to Brass knuckles (weapon). --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (tαlk) 21:05, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - I agree with The Random Editor. The name change just isn't needed, Brass Knuckles (album) is sufficient. --Ayoleftyz 23:09, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • OpposeWP:NC(P) recommends "adding a parethical (bracketed) disambiguator to the page name: for instance when both spellings are often or easily confused." Also oppose moving the brass knuckles weapon to to Brass knuckles (weapon) as the weapon is still the primary topic. — AjaxSmack 04:30, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Also, I oppose The Random Editor's suggestion of moving "Brass knuckles" to "Brass knuckles (weapon)". Axl 15:52, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - per nomination. Admc2006 16:42, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delays[edit]

Can someone find some information on what is causing the delays in releasing this album and add it to the article? -- MeHolla! 16:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tracklisting[edit]

Anybody know if it's official? --Piazzajordan2 (Talk.) 06:38, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not so sure it's real anymore, now that City Spud is out of jail. They could have pushed it back to get City on the album. Or maybe to just spit 16 bars on the songs "Chill" and "Lie" which feature the St. Lunatics. The original site where I found the tracklisting, the song "Problems" did not feature Janet Jackson. I don't know where this is coming from.

where's mariah?[edit]

I was really looking forward to this mystery thing on nelly's new album - the song with janet and mariah? but the only thing is that "problems" feature only janet? where's mariah... I hope that in the final cut both of the divas make it to the song, cause it would be GREATNESS!!!! Seki rs (talk) 14:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eh, I can't understand what you're saying. BTW, Wikipedia is not a forum. It's nice that you're looking to the album, but you might want to express your happiness on a forum, not here on the Wiki. IceUnshattered (talk) 20:16, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

There seems to be an ongoing edit war involving the covers. Can we gain consensus on what cover is being used? A couple of reliable references would be appreciated. As a general outsider who doesn't know the artist/album well at all, I can't offer much input myself, unfortunately. Cheers, IceUnshattered[ t | c ] 21:03, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the 1st cover has a source and the source says "cover of Nelly's Brass Knuckles album". The other cover has no sources that cite as an official cover. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 21:05, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems that Amazon has the black and white cover. DiverseMentality(Discuss it) 21:09, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So both covers are real then. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 21:17, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Righto. Check Image:Brass Knuckles (Nelly album).jpg, though - apparently it needs more of a description or something of the sort. IceUnshattered[ t | c ] 22:40, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so at this point, we need to come to a consensus of which cover should be put the infobox. In my opinion, the black and white cover should be the main cover, as it is the one Amazon is using. The colored cover seems to be outdated, so we might want to remove it until it is confirmed as the official cover or an alternate, if it is used at all. Thoughts? DiverseMentality(Discuss it) 06:38, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The colored cover clearly has a reliable source stating it as an official cover. But you're right that the gray cover should go 1st,since it's used by Amazon. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 15:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
True, but that album cover was revealed in March. A cover can definitely change in a five month gap. So gray cover first, and colored cover in alternate for now? DiverseMentality(Discuss it) 07:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In this particular instance, Amazon is wrong. I have an advance copy of the album. The copy that I have is colored. --Winger84 (talk) 06:58, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, you're not a reliable source. DiverseMentality(Discuss it) 07:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
'Tis true, just stating the facts. If I could get my scanner working, I'd scan it, but it still would not meet reliability policies. So, I'll let it go.. just remember when we actually see the album ;) --Winger84 (talk) 07:24, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The colored album cover was made by a fan. On a website called V.I.P. Deisgn. The black and white one is the OFFICIAL COVER FOR NELLY'S BRASS KNUCKLES ALBUM COMING SEPTEMBER 16TH. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.91.188 (talk) 16:10, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it was made by a fan,why does it have a very reliable Web source that says it's the official cover? XxJoshuaxX (talk) 21:29, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Because it was posted on Nelly's myspace page as a promo type cover...so all of your "reliable sources" got if from the myspace and thought it was official. And not to go back to the Amazon thing, they are using the black and white cover, and the NEVER used the colored one as the cover for the album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.91.188 (talk) 14:53, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nelly himself is more reliable than Amazon. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 15:18, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But Nelly personally doesn't get on his own myspace page. I messaged the St. Lunatics myspace page once, and got a message back from Promoter Mousie. All artists have their own people to get on the myspace account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.91.188 (talk) 15:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Has anyone seen the new album cover amazon has? It's the same text, but now they have a full body shot of Nelly. http://www.amazon.com/Brass-Knuckles-Nelly/dp/B000UMM722/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1217519895&sr=8-5 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.91.188 (talk) 16:01, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This should only confirm that the colored album cover will not be used. As I mentioned before, the color cover was revealed in March, and is likely outdated. DiverseMentality(Discuss it) 17:09, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
THANK YOU DIVERSEMENTALITY!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.91.188 (talk) 18:10, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All right then. The colored one is outdated. This page can be unprotected now. XxJoshuaxX (talk) 18:58, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
