Shashank Mani is an author,[2][3][4] politician[5] and social entrepreneur. He is the founder of Jagriti Yatra[6] and Jagriti Enterprise Center – Purvanchal.[7]

Early life and education[edit]

Mani, born Shashank Mani Tripathi, completed his schooling at Colvin Taluqdars' College in Lucknow. Later he pursued his BTech degree from the IIT Delhi,[8] graduating in 1986 and did an MBA from IMD Lausanne. [9]

Career[edit]

Shashank Mani is the founder of the Jagriti Yatra and the Jagriti Enterprise Centre - Purvanchal (JECP). In 1997, Mani organized the "Azad Bharat Rail Yatra"[10] to commemorate 50 years of India's independence.[11] This 22-day journey, conducted on a specially chartered train, provided him with valuable experiences and insights, which he documented in his book India – A Journey Through a Healing Civilization, published by HarperCollins.[12] Inspired by the success of this endeavour, Mani launched the Jagriti[13] movement in 2008,[14] initiating the annual national train journey known as the "Jagriti Yatra,"[15] with the aim of fostering entrepreneurship for nation-building.[16] Over the past 15 years, this yatra has played a pivotal role in building a network of 7000[17] entrepreneurial leaders across India.[18][19] The Jagriti model by Shashank has been replicated as The Millennial Train Journey in the USA and Ticket-for-Change in France.[20]He is BJP Candidate for Loksabha election 2024 from Deoria Constituency
